I hit the comic shop to pick up Fear Agent #2. There were two issues left, both badly wrinkled, as though they had been rained on. The comic shop owner claimed they had arrived that way and there were no undamaged issues. I was frustrated. While I do not consider myself to be a collector per se, I do like my books to be in mint condition in the off chance that I will feel like selling them down the line. But I was really looking forward to this issue so I begrudgingly purchased it.
Later when I got home I checked my email to find the following email from Image Comics:
Due to a printing error, Image Comics regrets to inform fans & retailers that FEAR AGENT #2 was incorrectly printed on the wrong paper stock, leading to widespread damages.
This issue has been taken up with the printer and they are re- printing FEAR AGENT #2, which will be in-stores on December 14th.
If you have purchased a copy of FEAR AGENT #2, please take it back to your local store and you will be able to exchange it for a new copy of FEAR AGENT #2. The rest of the current print run is being pulped so it does not get sent out accidentally.
Image Comics regrets this error and we apologize for any inconvenience.
So there you have it. I think I’ll keep my issue and bag it up with the good version when it gets released.
