Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer » The Plot

This is from the official Fantastic Four 2 website:

Marvel’s first family of superheroes, The Fantastic Four, meets their greatest challenge yet in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer as the enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.

There are two things that scare me in that synopsis.
First off, Dr. Doom is already back. While this isn’t surprising seeing as the first movie ended by setting up a sequel (inventive!), it is annoying. Sequels usually end up be worse versions of the original and placing the first bad guy back in the movie pretty much ensures it will be a clone. If not a clone of it’s predecessor, then a clone of every other movie sequel featuring the revenge of the initially defeated arch enemy (see X-Men 2 for an example).
Secondly, I’m a little concerned over the statement “As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc”. Since when does the Silver Surfer wreck havoc? He sounds like a super powered gremlin out to insight panic. The Silver Surfer was never intended to be portrayed in that manner, so let’s hope the promotional jargon doesn’t match up with the actual presentation.

Mark my words, you will be disappointed by this movie.

    Bobby Dazzler:
By your same logic, you can’t say that “things can only get better form here” without having watched it.

It’s called a prediction. I predict this movie is going to suck.

By the way, your caps lock is on and you need to learn basic english grammar.
